Q. What is PlanetMirror ?
A. PlanetMirror is an Internet library of digital content. It provides high speed access to opensource archives, document repositories, system and software patches, drivers and applications and the latest in gaming demos. PM is one of the world's largest and most popular archives with over six Terabytes (6000 Gigabytes) of disk space, pushing more than 2 Terabytes of content per day into the Internet (just over a Petabyte (1000 Terabytes) since we launched in 2000).

A. PlanetMirror is located in sunny Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Q. How can I download from PlanetMirror ?
A. There are a number of ways you can access PlanetMirror's archives. You can use:
  • HTTP
    • Use your favourite WWW Browser such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla or Opera.
    • Download managers such as GetRight, Download Accelerator or GoZilla!.
    • Other HTTP clients, including Wget, Lynx and Debian's APT.
  • FTP
    • Using any popular FTP client (such as CuteFTP, WS_FTP, or your browser-builtin).
    • When using FTP, use anonymous login, with your email address as your password.
  • Rsync
    • Many of PlanetMirror's archives are available via Rsync.
    • Use the command rsync rsync.planetmirror.com:: to see what's available.
Q. Why am I asked for a username and password when I try to download using DAP / GetRight ?
A. PlanetMirror provides a sophisticated system for seamless downloads using our Premium service. You might find that you are being asked for a username and password if you are using a Download Accelerator type of program. This is due to some bugs with how these programs interact with PlanetMirror. You are not required to enter a username or password to download from planetmirror's public servers.
